Reports have been around for years now, slowly gaining popularity. While many have been out for years, a major one started just last week. Last week marked the official launch of the Overwatch League, a league made up of the best players from across the world. The league is sponsored by Blizzard and has 3 games every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

There are a dozen teams on the league, each repping their respective cities. The teams are: Dallas Fuel, Houston Outlaws, San Francisco Shock, LA Valiant, LA Gladiators, Shanghai Dragons, Seoul Dynasty, London Spitfire, Florida Mayhem, Philadelphia Fusion, and Boston Uprising. Each team played in the pre season, where every team had the chance to shine. But now that the inaugural season has begun, things are different.

Since the first game of the season it’s been clear that the teams mean business. The first 3 games were brutal, having both the Shock and Shanghai lose 0-4 to the Valiant and Gladiators respectively. The only team that put up a good fight on night 1 was the Fuel, who lost to Seoul in a 1-2 match. Night 2 proved to be more entertains, having all teams hold their own.

Starting off night 2 was London and Florida, two teams that proved to good in the preseason.  However, London come out on top when fighting Florida, taking the match with a 3-1 victory. Following London’s win was Philadelphia against Houston in a long fought game. Houston put up a fight, but ultimately lost to Philadelphia 3-2. Ending off the night was Boston vs New York. Boston lost the first match, won the second, but lost the following two matches. The night ended on a 3-1 defeat for Boston.

Night 3 went by relatively fast, having 2 of the 3 games end in a crushing defeat. Up first was LA Valiant and Dallas Fuel, each team has great players, yet the Valiant dominated the Fuel. They took the first 3 rounds and ended the last round on a draw. The Valiant took the first game of the night, ending it on a 3-0 victory. Florida and Boston took the stage next, with their respective colors on their shirts. Boston didn’t come to play however, and completely annihilated Florida in a 4-0 game. After The stage cleared, San Francisco entered alongside Shanghai, having each already suffered a loss, they were eager to play. San Francisco found redemption when they beat Shanghai 3-1. The night ended as the teams left the stage, preparing for their return the next week.

The first week ended off on a bang, with some of the better teams closing out the week. London and Philadelphia took the stage and prepared the matches ahead. Philadelphia ended up getting destroyed by London, ending the first game on a crushing 4-0 defeat. Next to take center stage was New York and Houston, where the Outlaws suffered defeat yet again. The game ended on a score of 3-1 in favor of New York. The bet was saved for last, as Seoul and the LA Gladiators took the stage. Seoul mopped the floor with LA, and took the final game of the week on a 4-0 victory.

Currently, Seoul is dominating the charts. Having not lost a single game yet, they’re very likely to win overall. However they play again tonight at 5, and may suffer their first defeat.
