On August 7-9, Buena Junior Varsity Cheer Squad held tryouts to select Freshmen to join the JV cheer squad. About fourteen girls showed up to learn choreographed material, excited and eager to learn. However, only a handful of those girls actually participated in tryouts as there were only 10 spots open on the team. The first two days, the girls learned the choreography needed for tryouts.

All of the ladies pictured did a wonderful job trying out with all of their big smiles and bubbly attitudes. Freshmen Emily Darlak and Leah Cornell mentioned their favorite part of tryouts was learning all the material. Emily Darlak continued to say, “I’ve dreamed of becoming a Buena Colt cheerleader since I was little, and I wanted to get out of my comfort zone.”

Both coaches were very excited and proud of each and every girl that tried out. Coach  Shannon Auger said she wishes she could take all of them but unfortunately that was not an option. She continued to say, “I am looking to girls with good attitudes, someone who can go above and beyond, and someone who can get over being uncomfortable because that’s a big thing in life.” Coach Shannon Auger and Coach Jenna Hampton are extremely excited for this cheer season as it is the beginning of an amazing program here at Buena High School.
