The 43rd annual Eastern Arizona College Skills Day is taking place on April 11, 2019 to allow high school students from all over the state to showcase their talents in a variety of categories. Dozens of competitions are being held, which include fields such as Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Graphic Design, Language Skills, Business Skills, Art Exhibition, and many more. Prestigious awards will be given to winners with the highest scores and an award ceremony will be hosted, as well.

High school students who wish to demonstrate their skills and comprehension in a foreign language will compete in the Language Skills Contest. EAC offers competitions for Beginning and Intermediate French students and from Beginning to Advanced Spanish students. These competitions come with specific categories: a written exam, poetry/prose recitation (which must not only be memorized, but recited with feeling and emotion), and a skit competition of 7-10 minutes long in the student’s target language. High school seniors who place the highest scores in the Intermediate French and Advanced English written exam will be rewarded with a tuition for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 academic year at Eastern Arizona College.

Students interested in participating in a competition from any offered category are to register and contact their school’s CTE Director or teacher. Those competing are required to arrive at no later than 8:30 a.m. to receive orientation and general guidelines. Schedules for competition categories may vary depending on the area chose, however, the award ceremony begins at noon.

If interested to participate, or simply have questions regarding the competition and the given categories, visit http://www.eac.edu/skillsday/ for more information.
