Did you know that September is Attendance Awareness month?  We are working to ensure that we improve the attendance of our students through increased hall monitoring, change in security patterns, incentive for no tardies, truancies and discipline, as well as monitoring the student parking lot.  As we go through this process our staff want you to know that we value the partnership between parents, students and Buena staff in ensuring that your child is receiving a quality education.  We have attached an informational flyer related to attendance for you to look over as well.

College and Career Night is Wednesday, October 3rd at Buena between  4:30 and 6:30!  Be sure to come out and see all of the options that our students have for post-secondary education!  Please be sure to visit the local scholarship providers.  Hard copies of applications for scholarships will be available at the tables in the lobby.  Scholarships can also be found by visiting At 5:30 there will be an informative Financial Aid Presentation in the Lecture Pod!  Be sure to come out and get your questions answered.  Families are welcome!

Be sure to come out to the Klein Center for Performing Arts at Buena this Friday and Saturday, September 28th & 29th to see a presentation of Greek Mythology Olympiaganza at 7 PM.  Tickets are $5 at the door!

Looking for an opportunity to get involved at the High School?  Contact the Principal’s Secretary, Jamie Bennett at [email protected] for information regarding volunteer packets!  There are many different ways to get involved in our high school.  Some of which include Club Parent Groups, Booster Clubs, CTSO Parent Groups, Chaperone for Events, and daily volunteer opportunities!

Buena’s Academic Decathalon team is preparing for their competition season and they are still looking for judges on Saturday, September 29th from 8 – 11 am to come in and listen to either speeches or interviews to help students prepare for speaking to judges!  Email [email protected] for more information!

Monday, October 1st at 7 PM in the Klein Center for Performing Arts be sure to come out as our Buena Choral Union presents a Fall Concert at 7 pm.  There is no cost to attend!

Also, please remind your student to have their Student ID on them at all times.  The staff at Buena are committed to providing a safe environment that is conducive to learning.  Ensuring that everyone that is supposed to be on campus has an ID card is a key part of that process.  Lost ID cards can be replaced in Student Services.

Fall Break is coming soon!  School will be out from October 8th – October 12th.  We hope you enjoy this time with your family!  The office will be closed throughout the week.  Please call (520)515-2800 and someone will return your call when we return.

National Honor Society (NHS) applications are available on the website  Applications are due by October 5th.  Please turn applications in to Ms. Swiney in Room 1108 or Mrs. Horka in Room 1106.  Students must be in grades 10 – 12 and have an unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher to apply.

October 5th is a half day for students with a release time of 10:30AM and the final day for Quarter 1.  Teachers will have grades finalized by Tuesday, October 16th.  Report Cards will be available through StudentVue or ParentVue on Friday, October 19th.

Federal Impact Aid Forms have been distributed through your student’s third hour class. We thank you for returning the forms as soon as possible.  Even if you are not a government employee please fill out the form to the best of your ability and return it with your child.  Because we operate on government funding we are required to collect these forms from every student.  Thank you for assistance in helping meet our goal of 100% of our Impact Aid forms
